Creative Summer Experience by Studio Hue 53
About the Program
Give your child a summer filled with creativity, exploration, and hands-on learning. Each week features a different artist and educator, introducing children to painting, sewing, nature based art, mixed media, and music through engaging projects that inspire curiosity and confidence.
Whether your child is picking up a paintbrush for the first time or already has creative experience, our program meets them where they are and helps them grow. Through hands-on projects, children build artistic skills, confidence, and self expression in a fun and supportive environment.
This year, we are excited to expand the program with a dedicated music class presented in partnership with The Green Hat School. Children will have the opportunity to explore rhythm, movement, and musical expression alongside their visual arts education, creating a well rounded creative experience that encourages imagination across multiple art forms.
Classes will be led by a talented team of artists and educators, including Julie Djelosevic, Cristina Medina, Gabi of Buenezas, Veronica Restrepo, and Mario del Risco, each bringing their unique expertise and creative approach to inspire young artists throughout the summer.

Gelli Plate Printmaking with Kaili Woop
This workshop introduces students to gelli printing, a fun and experimental printmaking process that creates one-of-a-kind monotype prints without a press. Open to beginners and experienced artists alike, participants will explore foundational techniques on paper and textiles using gelli plates, while developing their own visual language through color, texture, layering, and mark-making.
Through demonstrations, guided prompts, hands-on experimentation, and group discussion, students will learn techniques including charcoal transfer, collagraphy, and Posca marker transfer. The class encourages both intentional design and spontaneous “happy accidents,” helping participants embrace creative risk-taking and enjoy the process of making.
By the end of the workshop, students will leave with a collection of finished prints on paper, a custom printed tote bag, and a deeper understanding of how gelli printing can be used for both fine art and functional applications. No prior art or printmaking experience is required.
Kaili Woop is a multimedia artist and designer based in Astoria, Queens, working across printmaking and wearable art. She is a graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) and a 2023 recipient of the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Award and the SUNY Chancellor Award. Her work has been exhibited at The Museum at FIT, The Alpha Workshops Gallery, and US+U Gallery. Woop has over two years of experience teaching hands on printmaking workshops with organizations including US+U Gallery, QED Astoria, Sunnyside Arts and Queens Collaborative.
