Join Gabi from Buenezas for a hands-on workshop where art, science, and ecology come together! Learn how to create botanical inks using leaves, tree barks, and flowers foraged in Miami. With simple, accessible techniques, you'll extract vibrant, natural colors that you can easily replicate at home.
Together, we’ll explore the rich stories, medicinal and nutritional properties, and cultural significance of local plants, deepening our connection to the land. This session focuses on the flora of Miami Springs, using our surroundings to inspire a unique color palette that sparks both creativity and curiosity.
Participants will engage in a painting exercise and take home their own handmade ink—along with the knowledge to continue practicing and learning with natural pigments.

“I am a multidisciplinary artist, certified Restorative Justice circle-keeper, and outdoor educator, born in Caracas, Venezuela, and currently based in Miami, Florida. My practice encompasses filmmaking, photography, and community facilitation through workshops and support circles, alongside ongoing research on plant pigments, fiber-making, foraging, and communal cooking.
At the core of my work is the exploration and regeneration of relationships—between humans and non-humans, our bodies and the land, and our present selves with our ancestral histories. Through collaboration with community, family, and friends, I co-create intergenerational projects that honor oral traditions, celebrate the love and care of neighbors, and foster shared experiences—whether making food, tending gardens, or holding space for vulnerability. While my art is often ephemeral, the relationships and connections formed remain deeply transformative.”
